Bill Dominguez, Storyteller/Photographer

Born in Cuba, grew up in a family consisting of a photographer/jazz musician father, concert pianist mother, opera singing sister, a classic oil painter and opera singing aunt, and a never-ending group of “quirky” characters.

Bill dabbled in photography throughout his pre-teen years then music as a teen-ager playing drums in several rock bands. During the mid 70's Bill was in high demand as a photojournalist, photographing live performances and collaborating with writers complimenting their stories with photographs. His ability to “step inside” the subject and present the viewer with highly personal images continued to grow.

In 1978, Bill’s substantial camera equipment was stolen and soon thereafter, his priceless negatives and most of his transparencies mysteriously disappeared. Bill viewed this as an omen to stop photography and move on to other avenues of expression.

Bill continued to apply his creativity to various business endeavors. Successful as they were, the camera kept calling. Through the encouragement of his many friends in the Arts, to quote Bill, he "got off his ass" and picked up where he left off and then some.

Following his spiritual path, becoming a Reiki Master and Shaman, his new found ability to sense the subject’s energy led him to again use photography as the medium for expressing that which he sees the subject wanting to share, leaving the photograph's interpretation to the audience.
